No they are not proprietary. Our Innerdrive Straight pull hubs use Sapim CX-Ray TCS OH Straight Pull are used to prevent spoke twisting. Any standard straight pull spoke can be utilized, however. |
What Spoke tension should be applied to an ENVE rim with a straight-pull Innerdrive hub? |
On the rear hub, the drive side is built to 120 kgf. The disc side will be lower. How much lower will depend on what rim it is being built to. The important thing on the disc side is that the spoke tensions are all similar or balanced even though they are lower. On the front hub, the disc side is built to 120 kgf. Does maintenance require any special tools to take apart? | Only 19mm wrenches are needed for the front hub, and 18mm wrenches for the rear hub. To upgrade or swap ratchets, a simple mechanic’s pick is needed. |

Why straightpull instead of j-bend? | 1. Simpler Spoke Lengths |
Our hub shell design allows for the use of a single spoke length for any given rim diameter. This means one spoke length per wheel (Example: 4.5 Front Wheel uses a single 277mm length spoke throughout the wheel, and a 4.5 Rear Wheel uses a single 271mm length spoke throughout the wheel).
2. Silent Spoke Crossings
The straight-pull hub shell puts space between each spoke ensuring that your ENVE Wheelset cannot experience spoke creaking.
3. Lateral Stiffness | |
ENVE’s new straight-pull hubs improve lateral stiffness by 8-10%, maximizing power transmission and efficiency.
4. Anti-Twist Spoke Hole
To further improve the quality of the wheel build, spoke tension consistency, and to prevent spoke damage during wheel build, an anti-twist feature has been included to prevent the spoke from twisting during wheel build or while riding. This feature does not prevent the use of normal round spoke heads.
