E-Bikes have gone through various styles and iterations since their inception. A major advancement was the development of "pedal assist" technology, where the motor only activates when the rider pedals, making the bike more user-friendly and efficient. This has lead to wide-spread adoption of this technology across the bicycle industry.
However, using such bicycle motors can put additional stress on the rims, hubs, spokes, and components found on a bicycle.
ENVE offers some general recommendations for the use of our products on E-Bikes. We advise exercising caution when pushing performance equipment towards the limits of its original design purpose, as not all E-Bikes are created equal.
Here are the recommendations for the 2024 M-Series Wheel Line:
M5: Not Recommended
M6: Ideal for lightweight E-MTB builds with torque <75nm
M8/9: Recommended for the best E-MTB experience
For Innerdrive Hub Ratchets:
40T, 60T, 80T: Recommended for any/all E-MTB
100T: Not Recommended for Full Power E-MTB
All other ENVE Wheel/rims and Components are considered E-Bike Compatible.
