The drive side spacer in kit V2510701 (which is used on most current wheels) consists of two parts -an aluminum spacer and a plastic cover. When changing from an HG model to any other body, the plastic cover (below, yellow) is removed from the spacer. It is held in place via a friction fit and it can be quite tight, but it is removable:
